How to Search the Baxter County Court Docket
Start with Search ARCourts, the free Arkansas Judiciary interface that replaced Public CourtConnect. It pulls its entries straight from the state court automation system. Coverage varies by court, and so do linked documents. A blank result tells you to try another court level or clerk, not that no Baxter County court docket exists. Search by case number first. A party name, an organization, or a case description can work too. Keep the citation or filing notice close, since it usually names the court location. A basic Baxter County docket search runs in that order.
- Decide whether the case is in Baxter Circuit Court or a District Court department.
- Choose Participants or Cases in Search ARCourts, then enter a name, case number, or citation number.
- Open advanced filters and set County to Baxter plus the correct court location.
- Match the court, filing date, case type, and number before reading docket entries or future events.
- Contact the filing clerk for an older file, an unavailable image, or a certified Baxter County court docket.
The official search screen shows Baxter County's two lookup modes.
That display is public lookup only, not a certified record.
Baxter County Search Fields
Common names can swamp an Arkansas-wide search. Advanced filters tame that. The Judiciary's navigation tips explain the filters, the result controls, and how documents behave. Enter at least one field to start, and note that Safari users may need to allow pop-ups before a public filing will open.
| Field | Use in a Baxter County docket search | Format note |
|---|---|---|
| Search by | Choose Participants or Cases | Required selector |
| Name | Enter first, middle, and last name only as needed | Each text field allows up to 200 characters |
| Case or citation number | Narrow to one known matter | Examples include 10CR-09-100 and LRCR-09-100 |
| County | Select Baxter | Optional advanced filter |
| Court Location | Choose Circuit or the correct District department | Depends on county selection |
| Docket Code | Target a type of docket entry | Changes dates to Docket Start and End Range |
The official advanced-search view makes the Baxter County and court-location filters visible.
The filters matter because Baxter County splits its dockets among one Circuit clerk and several District departments.
What a Court Docket Shows
A Baxter County court docket is an index. The full case file lives elsewhere. It can list who took part, when the matter was filed, what the clerk entered, the next scheduled event, and how the case ended. Search ARCourts fills in those fields only when the source court has entered the information and it is public.
| Case header | Case number, title or description, type, filing date, court, judge, status, and any security marker. |
|---|---|
| Participants | Names and party roles. A similar name alone does not establish identity. |
| Docket entries | Sequence, filing date, docket code, description, and a document link when one is public and available. |
| Future events | Event type, description, sequence, and date or time supplied by the court. |
| Outcome | Disposition, judgment, charge result, or sentence fields when applicable and entered. |
| Documents | Name, description, upload date, and file reference, subject to access limits. |
A dead document link means little by itself. The Baxter County County & Circuit Clerk, or the correct District clerk, can still check the official file for what was actually filed.
Baxter County Docket Terms
Portal labels split past case activity from the next hearing. Read each Baxter County term in context.
- Docket code
- The classifier attached to a filing or event, also available as a Search ARCourts filter.
- Future event
- A planned hearing or setting, distinct from a prior filing that reports an older date.
- Disposition
- The recorded result of a charge, claim, or case.
- Continuance or reset
- A change that moves a setting to another date.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-authenticated reproduction of the official record.
Charges and pleadings state allegations, not findings. Appearing in the Baxter County court docket does not turn them into rulings.
Which Courts Keep Dockets
Arkansas splits trial work two ways. Circuit Court holds general trial jurisdiction. District Court handles matters of limited jurisdiction, and Baxter County belongs to the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit and the Tenth State District. Amendment 80 turned the former circuit, chancery, probate, and juvenile courts into subject divisions of Circuit Court instead of separate trial courts.
| Court | Baxter County docket covers | Official record source |
|---|---|---|
| Baxter Circuit Court | Felony, general civil, domestic relations, probate, and juvenile matters | County & Circuit Clerk, Suite 103 |
| Mountain Home District | Local traffic and misdemeanor cases, plus all county District civil and small claims | Mountain Home District clerk |
| Other Baxter District departments | Local traffic, misdemeanor, ordinance, and preliminary felony matters | Clerk for Cotter, Gassville, Lakeview, Norfork, Briarcliff, or Salesville |
The judicial roster and jurisdiction page maps Baxter County's court levels and judge assignments.
Rosters help route a setting question. For a certified Baxter County docket, the clerk of filing remains the source.
Baxter County Case Routing
Case level decides where the chronology starts. A felony often begins in a city District department. It may later continue as a Baxter Circuit Court felony case. A District judgment appealed under Rule 9 creates a new Circuit filing when the certified District docket sheet is filed. The old online District entry does not transform.
Docket flow: District preliminary event → Baxter Circuit filing → Arkansas Court of Appeals → Arkansas Supreme Court.
Civil splits by level as well. Circuit Court hears the general actions. District Court can hear disputes through $25,000, and non-jury small claims through $5,000. Every piece of Baxter County District civil and small-claims work sits in Mountain Home. The city on a party's address may therefore be the wrong court-location filter.
The Fourteenth Judicial Circuit's allocation plan adds another layer once the court level is known. Division 1 receives Baxter criminal cases. It also takes part of the civil and domestic matters, plus the adult specialty court. Division 2 gets juvenile and probate work. Divisions 1, 3, and 4 divide general civil and domestic filings by published percentages. A reopened or supplemental action ordinarily returns to its original judge. So two same-type Circuit matters can list different judges. None of that changes who keeps the record. The combined Baxter County County & Circuit Clerk holds the Circuit case docket regardless of division.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
Baxter County offers no stand-alone county calendar search. Current dates surface in several places instead. Try Search ARCourts future events. The Tenth District administrative plan, city event calendars, or the filing clerk's schedule may also carry them. Pull up the exact case and confirm the court location. Then compare the newest future event with the printed notice or citation.
An old docket line noting a continuance is not automatically the new date. Hunt for the newest future event, with its time and department. A late reset, closure, or conflict calls for a phone call. Reach the Circuit Clerk for a Circuit docket question. The Baxter County court calendar page details each channel in turn. City department clerks answer District settings.
Baxter County Calendar Patterns
Regular sessions hint at the likely venue. They never override a case-specific order. Under the current plan, Lakeview traffic and criminal court runs the first Wednesday at 1 p.m., and Norfork the third Wednesday at 2 p.m. Gassville's calendar usually names a second-Wednesday District event. Cotter's city calendar shows 1 p.m. Cotter Court entries matching a third-Wednesday session.
Check the newest setting. A recurring city schedule is a cross-check, not permission to ignore the date printed on a citation or entered after a reset.
Circuit scheduling can turn on division and case type. Chambers may answer a courtroom question, but record and certified-copy requests still belong to the Baxter County County & Circuit Clerk.
Public Access to Dockets
Arkansas opens its court records to the public. Walking into the courthouse and searching online are two different things, though. Administrative Order 19 governs how access actually works and shields certain protected data from view. On top of that, a sealing order or a confidentiality statute can pull a result, entry, or whole document out of reach. Baxter County searchers should expect those limits on any docket.
Key Arkansas rules:
Administrative Order 19 sets public-access rules and Internet exclusions for court records.
Administrative Order 21 governs electronic filing and confidential-data handling.
Ark. Code Ann. §§16-90-1401 et seq. supplies the criminal-record sealing framework.
Ark. Code Ann. §9-27-309 addresses juvenile confidentiality, subject to its current text and court orders.
The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act, at Ark. Code Ann. §§25-19-101 et seq., sets a general right to inspect and copy. It yields, though, to judicial rules, statutes, and any sealing order that protects a Baxter County court record.
An online gap can have three separate causes. Administrative Order 19 may bar the data from Internet access. A statute may make the subject confidential, and juvenile records are the classic case. Or the judge may have signed a case-specific order. Criminal sealing also demands its own legal process and judicial action, even though the Baxter County fee list shows no local charge to seal criminal records. A blank search screen tells you nothing about which cause applies. Ask the filing clerk instead whether a public record exists and how to request it, keeping in mind that staff cannot hand over material the law or an order protects.
Baxter County Filing Is Separate
Arkansas eFlex handles the filing side, not the public Baxter County docket search. Circuit e-filing became mandatory in the county on January 2, 2019. A lawyer or party files through eFlex. The case-management system then stores the court activity. Search ARCourts shows the public portion of the docket.
The official eFlex login is the screen for that filing role.
You need no eFlex filing account to run a Baxter County case docket search. The Judiciary's public access transition page names Search ARCourts as the replacement for legacy CourtConnect.
A stale bookmark can steer a Baxter County searcher down an outdated route. The case data itself may still be alive and well. Support and certification work differently too. The Arkansas court automation help desk fixes portal faults, but it cannot certify a Baxter County case. It also cannot answer a question only the clerk can. For bulk compiled data, the Administrative Office of the Courts runs a separate request process. That route works under Administrative Order 19 agreements. Such a statewide route is overkill for a single docket sheet. One Baxter County case calls for the public portal first. Then a call to the filing court's clerk finishes the job.
The Clerk and Docket Records
Canda Reese holds the elected office of Baxter County County & Circuit Clerk. Her combined office builds Baxter Circuit dockets. It keeps pending and closed files and dispositions, and it records authorized orders, judgments, warrants, summonses, and injunctions. District departments hold their own lower-court records. So the combined title does not make Suite 103 the clerk for every city traffic docket.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The clerk's official page publishes the office role, contact data, and fees.
Call ahead before you visit. The county does not publish its terminal, identification, payment, or turnaround details, so a quick phone check saves a wasted trip.
Baxter County Copy Fees
A portal printout is for information only. The filing clerk issues the plain or certified copy. Baxter County's clerk posts several Circuit record and filing amounts, yet the list leaves open whether page charges stack onto certification and how long a request takes.
| Item | Published amount | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Plain copy | $0.25 each | Whether “each” means each page |
| Certified copy | $5.00 | Whether ordinary copy charges are additional |
| Seal criminal records | No charge | Eligibility and required court action |
| New Circuit action or appeal | $165.00 | Required cover sheet and current filing directions |
| Reopen same-party case | $50.00 | Whether the filing fits the published category |
For a hearing or trial transcript, ask the court reporter rather than the Circuit Clerk. Baxter County publishes no dedicated copy-request form, mail protocol, transcript fee, or guaranteed processing time.
Baxter County Records Through Time
An old Baxter County docket may sit on very different media. The county formed in 1873. Fire destroyed the 1882 wooden courthouse in 1890, taking many handwritten records with it. The county says some scorched and browned originals survived. Staff allow careful examination of them in the County Clerk's Office. The present WPA courthouse, unveiled in 1943, is listed on the National Register. The official courthouse history tells the story of both buildings and the record loss.
A nineteenth-century Baxter County search that fails online points to one of two things: a surviving volume nobody digitized, or a record the fire took. The clerk can tell those apart far better than the state portal.
Court Dockets by City in Baxter County
Each of the five largest incorporated cities in the official 2020 Census table has its own local Baxter District Court department or serves as a key District venue. City traffic and misdemeanor records stay with that department. District civil and small claims cases from anywhere in Baxter County are filed and heard in Mountain Home.
Mountain Home Court Docket
Population 12,825. Local traffic and misdemeanor court plus the countywide District civil and small-claims venue.
Gassville Court Docket
Population 2,171. City traffic and criminal settings remain local, with a named city calendar and clerk counter.
Cotter Court Docket
Population 886. Cotter publishes a city court calendar and several fine-payment channels.
Lakeview Court Docket
Population 775. Search the state docket, then confirm the first-Wednesday setting with City Hall.
Norfork Court Docket
Population 465. The Water & Court Clerk is the direct fallback for the local third-Wednesday docket.
Every city page carries its own calendar, contact, and payment facts. Treat one city's payment vendor as just that, not as the Baxter County court docket for some other city.
Map and Directions to the Baxter County Courthouse
Circuit Court dockets, filed pleadings, judgments, and certified copies are kept at the Baxter County Courthouse, 1 East 7th Street, Suite 103, in the combined County & Circuit Clerk's office. Most courtrooms and judge chambers, along with Mountain Home District Court's civil and small-claims counter, sit across the way in the separate Baxter County Court Complex at 301 East Sixth Street, so a Circuit record request still goes to Suite 103 rather than to the Court Complex.

No public-access terminal, staff-assisted research, identification rule, or parking arrangement is officially published, so call ahead of a visit. Some of the county's pre-1890 handwritten records were lost to a courthouse fire, and surviving scorched originals may only be examined in person at the Clerk's Office.
